What to Know About

Genius

No matter how much we want to turn back the clock, we can’t stop time or the effects it has on our skin. With Genius Microneedling treatments, however, you can minimize the visible traces of aging on your skin. This treatment uses a combination of radiofrequency technology and microneedling to target and treat wrinkles, sagging skin, scarring, skin irregularities, and more.

About Flexile Classic

How Does Genius Work?

This treatment uses electrical energy known as radiofrequency energy. Using a panel of microneedles that are plated in gold, Genius Microneedling sends this electrical energy into the first and second layers of your skin. As it reaches your cells, the radiofrequency energy begins to heat the targeted area, specifically the collagen contained in your skin. The heat then encourages your skin to create new collagen and elastin proteins, which tightens and remolds your skin in multiple layers.

Genius Microneedling uses its microneedles to further improve your results. The tiny injuries created by the treatment trigger a healing response in the treated area, increasing the amount of new collagen and elastin. This increased production tightens the skin in the treated areas, creating a more youthful appearance.

Conditions It Treats

Genius Microneedling is FDA-approved to treat numerous effects of aging, including:

  • Fine wrinkles and lines
  • Loose neck skin and jowls
  • Sagging or loose skin
  • Skin crepiness
  • Skin irregularities
  • Changes in skin tone and texture
  • Excessive underarm sweating

Though this treatment is most commonly used on the face and neck, it can improve aging skin in any area of the body.

Genius Microneedling has been used to treat acne scars and traumatic scars for patients through Europe, South America, and Asia, but it is not yet FDA-approved for use in the U.S.

Who Should Get Genius Microneedling?

This treatment is ideal for patients who want to tighten and improve their aging skin. Unlike many skin-aging treatments, Genius Microneedling works effectively on patients with darker skin. By using the microneedles to by-pass the top surface of the skin, the treatment avoids any issues caused by dark skin pigment.

What to Expect from Your Genius Appointment

Before your appointment, your dermatologist will apply a numbing agent to the targeted area. This prevents any pain during the treatment, which will feel like a strong stamping sensation as multiple radiofrequency energy pulses are applied to your skin. Most patients experience only mild discomfort during their sessions.

Once the treatment is complete, your skin may appear red for around 24 hours. It may also feel rough to the touch for two to three days following your appointment.Genius Microneedling is minimally invasive, so any reported side effects are mild. Some patients report bruising or pinpoint bleeding, but these effects are rare. Downtime is minimal and you should be able to resume your typical activity within a day.

Treatment frequency depends on the severity of your skin’s aging and your desired results. Generally, most dermatologists recommend two to four treatments that are spaced about four weeks apart. You should see results between one and six months after your final treatment.
